Mentorship: What You're Missing
76% of professionals say having a mentor is critical to their success.
But only 37% actually have one.
That gap? It’s not just a stat. It’s a wake-up call.
And if you’re reading this, chances are you already know mentorship matters. You’ve likely seen its impact on others. Maybe you’ve even had glimpses of it in your own journey.
But here’s the truth most people have learned the hard way:
Mentorship isn’t going to just land in your lap.
|
Too many professionals are waiting, hoping the right mentor will show up, notice their potential, and offer a hand.
But leadership doesn’t reward passive hope. It rewards intentional action.
So what’s getting in the way?
For many, it’s uncertainty.
How do I find a mentor?
What do I say?
Am I even worth someone’s time?
For others, it’s pride.
They believe they should already know what they’re doing.
They don’t want to appear needy or unqualified.
And for a lot of high-achievers, it’s busyness.
They’re running at full speed, putting mentorship on the "used to" or “someday” lists.
Meanwhile, they’re leaving growth, and money, on the table.
Let’s clear something up:
Mentorship isn’t a luxury.
It’s not a nice-to-have.
It’s a leadership accelerator.
The leaders who rise the fastest and sustain their success the longest?
They don’t go it alone.
They surround themselves with wisdom. With feedback. With truth-tellers who challenge them, sharpen them, and help them see what they can’t on their own.
That’s not weakness.
That’s strategy.
But here’s what I want you to know today:
📌 You are not behind.
📌 You are not disqualified.
📌 You don’t need all the answers. Just a willingness to grow.
So, what now?
Start by asking yourself:
Who do I admire, professionally or personally, for how they lead, how they think, or how they live?
Reach out. Start a conversation.
Don’t ask them to be your mentor right away. Just ask good questions. Express your curiosity. Invite their insight.
Then keep showing up. Follow up. Stay humble. Stay coachable.
Mentorship is not about perfection.
It’s about proximity to people who make you better.
Let's go!
I'm rooting for you.
